MALARIA......

Sunday we went to church at Oasis and i was definitely not feeling well, Chris was convinced that i had Malaria but i didnt believe him.....He said he would take me to the hospital to get tested and i was a little freaked out since the test involves a finger prick and i dont do so well with needles.....

Monday we went to the hospital and sure enough i had Malaria. This week i have been resting a lot and trying to get better. I went to Oasis for a little bit each day but even a half hour was enough to wear me out. Today, Thursday, i feel a lot better finally. I spent the day at Oasis and this afternoon im going back to Discover.

We have spent the last few nights having dinner at different houses. Moses and Margaret had us over on Monday night, they are from Deliverence Church (where we brought the cow a few weeks ago). Tuesday we went to Jeffrey and Olivia's house (They run Oasis of Hope). And last night, Wednesday, we had dinner at the Girls Oasis House. This is where some of the older girls live, who have been taken in by Oasis and who now go to real schools. It was SO FUN. we had a major dance party and had a wonderful meal made by the house mom. Ive had so much Kenyan food this week. We got to just talk to and pray over the girls and they were so excited to have us there.

Im still having way too much fun with all the people on the team, its gonna be hard to leave early and miss out the the two weeks they will still have here. And I dont even want to think about saying goodbye to the kids.....

  1. Brittany, I am so proud of you for staying the course. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, you got right back in the mission. God truly has transformed you. Unbelievable. Love Dad

  2. Hi Brittany,

We hope you're feeling better... We understand the reality of getting that here, our prayers are with you... The one thing we have heard though, is getting malaria in Kenya is like a "right of passage", as if you're not really accepted until you get it. We haven't, you have, so looks like you're more Kenyan :)

We'll keep praying for you and we know you'll be ok...

    Love

    Katie and Patrick
